You lift off from Kathmandu at first light and refuel at Lukla, then fly up to Syangboche for breakfast at Hotel Everest View, with Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam across the valley. From there the aircraft climbs the Khumbu valley to land briefly at Kala Patthar — the classic viewpoint looking straight at the Everest south face. Because oxygen is thin at 5,545 m the landing is short, typically ten minutes, and the aircraft often lifts two passengers at a time.
